Fantasy Football

Rex Grossman
Chicago Bears

Position: Quarterback
Height: 6-1
Weight: 217
Date of Birth: Aug. 23, 1980
College: Florida

College Details: 2001 Heisman runner up in 2001 as a sophomore 2nd in Gator history with 9,164 pass yards and 77 TD passes. Threw for over 300 yards in 10 of 11 games one season with at least 3 touchdowns in 7 of them averaging 354 yards passing per game.

2003: Saw action in only 3 games with 437 yards passing and 2 TDs.
2004: Another season cut short due to injury, again 3 games played with 607 yards and 3 INTs with 1 TD.
2005: Hurt in preseason, reversing trend coming back late in the season to play in 2 games. Sparked the Bears in a Sunday nighter vs.. Atlanta after Kyle Orton continued to struggle. 258 pass yards, 1 TD.
2006: Finally got through a season unscathed, injury-wise at least. Was either brilliant or terrible in a wildly inconsistent 3,193 yard performance with 23 touchdowns marred by 20 interceptions and 5 lost fumbles and a loss in the Super Bowl.

Rep: A mini-Favre in some ways throwing into coverage down the field taking lots of risks. Unlike Favre who seemingly is indestructible, Grossman has been injured in 3 of 4 NFL seasons.

Outlook: If Grossman can stay healthy he can still have a productive career if he can shake off the critics. Remember, he hasn’t gained much experience and lead a team within one game of a ring in spite of that. If healthy, look for 3,500-3,800 yards and 25 touchdown or close to that.

Fantasy Football JP Losman

Fantasy Football

J.P. Losman
Buffalo Bills

Position: Quarterback
Height: 6-2
Weight: 212
Date Of birth: Mar.12, 1981
College: Tulane

College Details: West Coast product who transferred to Tulane and sat for 2 years behind Patrick Ramsey. 2 time team Captain finished with 60 career scoring passes, 6,654 yards passing, 241 yards rushing and another 10 scores rushing. Career leader  for the Green Wave in lowest INT rate.

2004: Broke in slowly with only 32 pass yards as almost a red shirt year.
2005: Used as a “game manager” for much of the season handing to Willis McGahee and getting out of the way. With only 1,340 pass yards and 8 touchdowns on the season was dubbed by someone as “Just Punt Loss-man“.
2006: Showed great improvement last season compiling good numbers in December in particular. Finished with 3,051 passing yards and 19 TD passes, almost half coming in the last month. Added another 140 yards on the ground and a TD. The 21 turnovers needs to drop however.

Rep: Cocky and a bit of a gunslinger in college with a tendency to fumble, losing 11 in his short NFL career. Good mobility and good enough arm to get the ball down the field as evidenced by twin 80 yard TD passes to Lee Evans vs., the Texans last year.

Outlook: Much improved  last season and that trend should continue if Marshawn Lynch and Anthony Thomas can carry the load at RB and set up play action passes. Expect 3,500 yards and 20-25 touchdowns, but don’t trust him as your starter just yet.

Fantasy Football Player

Santana Moss
Washington Redskins

Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 5-10
Weight: 200
Date Of Birth: June 1, 1979
College: Miami

College Details: Santana Moss is the leading receiver in the Miami Hurricanes’ history, breaking the record of newly inducted Hall Of Famer Michael Irvin with 2,546 yards receiving. A triple jumper and long jumper on the track team, Moss also had a startling 201 yards rushing on only 6 carries, with 2 touchdowns.

2001: Slow start to his career with the Jets with only 2 catches for 40 yards due to injury.
2002: A respectable but hardly spectacular 30 catches for 433 yards and 4 scores.
2003: Moss confirmed the 3rd year receiver rule with 74 receptions for 1105 yards and 10 TDs.
2004: Dropped off to 45-838-5.
2005: Career year in DC with highs in all categories except touchdowns, 84-1483-9 far eclipsing that other Moss.
2006: A relatively quiet 55 catches for 590 yards and 6 scores partly due to QB problems.

Rep: Explosive speed and quickness with moves to match. Small but hard to jam at the line.

Outlook: With Jason Campbell having another year to learn and some actual starting experience under his belt, look for 1,000-1,200 yards and 6-8 touchdowns from his #1 receiver.

Fantasy Football

Stephen Gostkowski
New England Patriots

Position: Kicker
Height: 6-1
Weight: 210
Date of Birth: Jan. 28, 1984
College: Memphis

College Details: All time leading scorer at Memphis, this guy ain’t no hound dog with 369 points , 13th in Div. 1A history. Made 85.7 % of field goal attempts last 2 years including a perfect 10-10 from over 40 yards.

2006: Very nice rookie year replacing a legend at his position. 20-26 FGs on the season with most of the misses coming early in the season. Made a 52 yarder and 14 field goals in the month of December, 8-8 in January, including 5-5 in the playoffs.

Rep: Very dependable with nice range also. Apparently unflappable replacing Vinatieri without a hitch.

Outlook: Look for Gostkowski to get more attempts now that he has proven himself and gotten the confidence of Bill Belichick. He made them when they counted the most down the stretch, so look for at least 6-10 more tries this season with maybe a bonus of a couple of 50+ and you know he will not lack for PAT tries as well.

2. Keep an eye out for NFL news.  Brett Favre is a good example as his decision will have a huge fantasy impact.

3. Start studying different fantasy football expert opinions to see their opinions stack up against one another.  Your best bet will be to follow what most experts think.

4. Look at different mock drafts and average draft position to see where players are being elected on average.  This will give you an idea who will be available where.
